Introducing the Neighborly Home Care Team

Rod Rhen
One of the only photographs I have of me next to my dad’s father is in a nursing home shortly before he died at the age of 57. When I look at this picture, it brings to mind very distinct memories of those last moments with my grandfather and my first experiences in a nursing home. I would say none of those memories would ever choose to pair the word ‘home’ to my descriptions of those visits. These experiences strongly influenced my decision to start a home care organization, particularly, an organization that would make quality home care within financial reach for many families.
Many people are surprised to find out that I have a Bachelors of Science, Mechanical Engineering Degree from Bucknell and yet I am running a home care organization. I find that my detail-oriented nature and my constant need to improve things is the engineering side of the equation that has been essential in helping Neighborly Home Care achieve success. And when I define success I define it not just in the fact that we are a financially viable organization that is here to stay, but also in the fact that our clients and their families are happy to work with us.
Being a part of ROTC in college, as well as being an officer in the army, were critical experiences that helped shape who I am professionally. Specifically, I worked in the Corps of Engineers, as a platoon leader for 3 years in Augusta, Georgia. From day one I was in charge of 30 soldiers, many of whom were my same age or older. We did civil engineering projects on the post where we were located, the purpose being preparedness training: should we be deployed to build something, we could. Preparedness training taught my mind to consider the value of what I’m learning now in light of the future benefits it could provide me. This way of thinking was an asset to me when I left the army and worked for a manufacturing company in Buffalo and an even greater asset to me when I saw the opportunity to start a home care agency and pursued it.

Stacey is a graduate of York College of Pennsylvania, where she earned a degree in Therapeutic Recreation. She obtained her certification as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) and entered the field of Human Services, working in mental health and providing therapeutic recreation services to children, adolescents, and adults. She utilized recreation as a tool to support the development of coping skills, anxiety management, and overall emotional well-being. Expanding her skill set, Stacey also played a key role in the development and successful operation of an Adult Day Program.
Stacey later entered the long-term care arena as the Therapeutic Recreation Director of a 400-bed inner-city facility, leading a staff of 15. Alyssa Merker
As an Outreach Coordinator at Neighborly Homecare, I connect client referrals with our Outreach team to ensure individuals and families receive compassionate, personalized care. Neighborly Homecare specializes in dementia care, hospice support, post-hospital recovery, and in-home assistance, delivered by highly trained Direct Care Staff. Our mission is to support clients and their loved ones with exceptional, tailored care solutions.
I bring over 7 years of experience in the healthcare field, with a focus on referral coordination, insurance verification, utilization review, and admissions counseling. My background has equipped me with a strong understanding of care access and the complexities families face when navigating healthcare services.
I am deeply committed to helping individuals and families navigate the homecare process with clarity, compassion, and support. This work is personal to me, as I have witnessed firsthand the challenges families face when care is not readily accessible or is difficult to navigate. I believe that while family members step into caregiving roles out of love, the physical and emotional demands can be overwhelming. My goal is to ease that burden by connecting families with the resources and care they need, when they need it most.

Chris Price
Chris was born in Baltimore, Maryland, and moved to South Jersey at an early age. He spent fourteen years working for a large local grocery retail chain, where he balanced full-time work with continuing his education. During this time, he earned his bachelor’s degree in human resources from Wilmington University while gaining valuable management and HR experience.
In late 2020, Chris decided it was time for a change outside of the retail industry. He realized he wanted a career that truly made a difference—not only in customers’ lives, but also in the lives of his coworkers.
As Chris considered his next step, he reflected on a meaningful experience from his personal life. While his mother was caring for his grandmother, who was gradually developing dementia, Chris saw firsthand how challenging it was to juggle a job, family responsibilities, and caregiving. After finding the right agency and hiring a caregiver, he noticed a significant weight lifted from his mother’s shoulders. At the same time, his grandmother regained a sense of independence and happiness. Around this period, Chris discovered Neighborly Home Care and immediately felt it was the perfect fit.
As the Human Resource Coordinator, Chris brings a strong focus on organization, compliance, and people-first practices. He has extensive experience onboarding new hires, maintaining employee records, and managing all aspects of HR—from benefits coordination and performance evaluations to employee relations, workplace injury claims, and separations. Chris supports day-to-day HR needs while ensuring all processes comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
Why I love this place – There is an incredible blend of exceptional home care and a family-like atmosphere within the team at Neighborly.

She has now served as a Scheduler for over five years, a role she views as a combination of team mastermind, coach, and player. Kenna creates and maintains daily, weekly, and monthly schedules, ensuring every client’s needs are met by matching them with caregivers based on skill set, personality, location, and availability.
Always thinking one “play” ahead, Kenna is expert at managing sudden shifts, whether addressing a last-minute call-out or coordinating urgent services for a new client. Because she is the primary point of contact for caregivers, clients, and families regarding scheduling changes, communication is the cornerstone of her work.
Outside of the office, Kenna is devoted to her family. She nurtures her loved ones across generations, whether she is visiting her grandmother, driving her children to sports practices, or getting them ready for cheer competitions. Kenna remains a vital “key player” on the Neighborly Home Care team.
